Een digitale baan is niets zonder een digitale centrale. De centrale zorgt voor de aansturing van de loc's, treinstellen en/of treinen, wissels en seinen op de baan. Naast de fabriekscentrales, zijn er ook zelfbouw-centrales en software-centrales.
